
XJTU established the first Chinese eCommerce research center. The center aims at global cooperation with researchers, practitioners, companies and government agencies to further eCommerce development in China. In 2004, the local Shaanxi province government granted the center the Key Lab status, and named the center KLEERE(KeyLab of eCommerce and eGovernment Research and Education for Shaanxi
Province). The laboratory currently has more than 30 researchers including professors, experts, post-doctors and doctors as well as many other short-term individual partners. It has published more than 100 papers, finished dozens of projects and produces various IS products.
XJTU, together with SWUFE, leads the Chinese ecommerce University network, which consists of 304 Chinese Universities. XJTU was also the first academic institution to introduce eCommerce curriculum and research in China. The eCommerce curriculum has since been ranked no. 1 in China in recent three years by Ministry of Education. The major research interests are eCommerce education and teaching system development; theoretic research and policy suggestions regarding eCommerce and eGovernment; technologies and product designing and project planning of industry-specific ecommerce.
